Check out our Facebook giveaway! Number one of four...

Canterbury Speech and Language Therapy hope that Term 2 has started well for everybody! We have been working on lots of exciting things over the holidays - appointments are filling up, we've been acquiring new resources, and organizing giveaways...

Here at Longhurst Health we are so lucky to have some other great businesses around us in the Longhurst subdivision. It is ever-expanding and I am so excited to see what else pops up as development continues. To celebrate May being "Better Hearing and Speech Month", we are teaming up with some of the awesome businesses in our area and doing four exciting giveaways over on our Facebook page! The first one is for a free speech and language screen assessment, and a voucher for Verge Cafe which is in the Longhurst Health building - a good opportunity to treat your Mum to a coffee, cake, or Thai meal as a late Mother's day gift!

Keep your eye on our Facebook page over the remainder of the month, we still have three more giveaways to go! The next one is very exciting, and I can't wait to reveal who we have teamed up with...

May is Better Hearing and Speech Month!

I hope you have all had a wonderful ANZAC weekend and first week of school holidays! Here at Canterbury Speech and Language Therapy we have been preparing for the month of May - Better Hearing and Speech Month 2016! I'm sure it comes around faster every year ... it will be Christmas again before we know it!

Each May, Better Hearing & Speech Month provides an opportunity to raise awareness about communication disorders and the role of speech and language therapists and audiologists in providing life-changing treatment. You can read more about this on the ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) website here - http://www.asha.org/BHSM/

For 2016, ASHA has decided on the theme "Communication Takes Care." We love this theme and think that Better Hearing and Speech Month is an awesome way to raise awareness of what we do. Keep an eye on our Facebook page - www.facebook.com/canterburyslt - over the next few weeks, as  we will be giving away some of these Canterbury Speech and Language Therapy vouchers in celebration of Better Hearing and Speech Month! Also, go ahead and give our page a like while you are over there. We post helpful articles, inspirational images, and updates of what is happening around Canterbury and within our clinic.

Feel free to get in touch if you would like any more information about Better Hearing and Speech Month, if you have any questions regarding our services, or if you would like to make an appointment. Remember - no referrals are needed, and we take bookings via this website, email, phone or our Facebook page.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable last week of school holidays!

The first of many blog posts to come!

Well, it is with much excitement that I can say we are finally up and running and appointments are starting to fill up! I most definitely underestimated the hours that would go in to setting up a new business and clinic space, but hours that will be well worth it in the end. Check out these pictures of the clinic! It has been such fun putting together the space, and we are still acquiring new resources and bits and pieces daily.

I am absolutely loving working from this space, with the sun streaming in, and watching the development of the subdivision progress rapidly around us. I have truly enjoyed setting up the clinic in the beautiful new Longhurst Health building in Halswell, and am so excited to be able share it with all of my clients.

Here at Longhurst Health, we are a "one-stop-shop" for your health needs. We are lucky to share the Longhurst Allied Health space with some other amazing, helpful professionals. We are located on level one along with:

Today marks the first day of the New Zealand primary school holidays, I can't believe how fast they have come around! Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful two weeks with their families.
